Vice-Ministers of Transport of Lithuania and Japan signed a memorandum of cooperation
At the ASEM Transport Ministers' meeting in Budapest, Lithuania's Deputy Minister of Transport, G. Mažeika met with Japan's Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Wada Masamune. G. Mažeika presented the major Lithuanian transport infrastructure projects - Rail Baltica and Klaipeda State Seaport development and opportunities for Japanese businesses to participate. The Vice-Ministers of both countries signed a Memorandum of Intent on cooperation in the field of transport.
"It is important to expand Lithuanian-Japanese relations in the field of transport and logistics so that leads to mutually beneficial co-operation," said Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications G. Mažeika.
In the Memorandum, Lithuania and Japan confirm the mutual aspirations of the countries to share knowledge, experience and ideas for efficient, effective and sustainable solutions in the transport sector. Cooperation in road, rail, maritime and air transport at national, regional and local levels is foreseen to include businesses and universities. The parties intend to strengthen business relations and encourage business participation and investment in their transport projects. Science and research institutions in both countries will be encouraged to exchange experiences in the field of transport.
