UNSEEN LITHUANIA Photo Exhibition by Marius Jovaisa

Aerial photo exhibition “Unseen Lithuania“ by Marius Jovaisa, who represents contemporary Lithuanian photography,  will be exhibited in Hillside forum, Tokyo, July 7-19. This exhibition is the major event in Tokyo to celebrate the Millennium of the name of Lithuania first mentioned in written sources in 1009.The present exhibition features 38 big size photography works a slide projection, selected among some 20,000 shots originally taken for the photo album. The idea of  creating  a representative photo album of Lithuanian sceneries came to the photographer‘s mind after he has  traveled  and shooting all over the world. Marius Jovaiša  consulted with geography and ethnology experts and then spent almost a  year shooting famous and less known Lithuanian landscapes, including UNESCO world heritage sites, historical and contemporary cities, villages or just shapes and textures of the land. The works reveal the author‘s deep love to his homeland and strive to share its beauty with the people around the world.Having toured in Europe, set foot in Latin America, USA, Canada and Australia, the “Unseen Lithuania“ comes to Japan. Hopefuly, the exhibition  will enjoy a lot of attention from the Japanese audience and inspire the urge to discover unseen Lithuania.The exhibition starts a series of Lithuanian traditional and contemporary art events which will be presented in Japan until 2012, the commemorative year of the 90th anniversary of the Lithuania-Japan diplomatic relations.  Exhibition period: July 7 Tue ~ 19 Sun, 2009.
