Tourism Seminar Held at the Embassy on 17 June

On 17 June, the possibilities for tourism in Lithuania were presented in the seminar at the Embassy of Lithuania in Tokyo.  More than 30 tourism agencies representatives and journalists from several newspapers and magazines (“The Japan Times”, “Asahi Shimbun”, “Mainichi Shimbun”, “Sankei Shimbun”, “Japanecho”, “Travel Journal”, “Japan Inc.”) and  “Kyodo News” agency participated in the seminar.At the opening of the seminar, Lithuanian Ambassador Dainius Kamaitis suggested that Lithuania was the right direction for Japanese tourism agencies looking for the new destinations.Minister Counsellor Birute Abraitiene led the seminar and introduced Lithuania which celebrates the millennium of its name. The aspects of history, culture, traditions were explained, and suggestions for new tourism routes in Lithuania were proposed.Minoru Hashimoto and Fumyasu Sakata, directors of TAC and Viking Co., respectively, shared their experiences in organizing trips to Lithuania.uji City representative Hisao Shinden announced the 20th anniversary of sister city relationship between Klaipeda and Kuji. So far, Kuji City hosts the only museum of amber in Japan, and has established a Lithuanian House selling souvenirs and other Lithuanian goods (http://www.kuji.co.jp/lithuania/index.html).After the seminar, its participants enjoyed Lithuanian beverages and food.
