The visit of the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Ms. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen
On October 26, the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Ms. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen visited Japan to commemorate the First Anniversary of the Announcement of Strategic Partnership between Lithuania and Japan.
The Speaker of Parliament and her Delegation paid a visit to Waseda University to pay respects to the memory of its famous alumnus, the Righteous Among the Nations, Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara.
Ms. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen held a meeting with the Chairman of the Japan-Lithuania Interparliamentary Friendship League, Honourable Hirofumi Nakasone and other Japanese parliamentarians, to discuss progressive development of bilateral parliamentary relations between Lithuania and Japan and further opportunities for strengthening bilateral ties in security, defence, political, economic, and cultural spheres.
Concluding her visit, the Speaker opened the festival "Lithuania NOW" in Gifu City - the largest Lithuania-themed cultural event in Japan.
