The Visit of Ambassador G. Varvuolis in Oita Prefecture
During his visit to Oita Prefecture, Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis met with Katsusada Hirose, Governor of Oita prefecture, and Toshiaki Tanaka, Mayor of Saiki. Ambassador applauded the student exchange agreement between Vilnius University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, discussions are taking place on how to intensify this exchange. Representatives of Oita Prefecture were invited to visit Lithuania, as well as Vilnius University, where the Institute of Asian Studies operates. Teltonika telematics technologies, which may be relevant to the automotive industry in the prefecture, were also presented during the meetings. Representatives of Saiki, one of the largest fishing industry centers on Kyushu island, were introduced to the technology of Deeper fishing sonar made in Lithuania. Ambassador as well gave interviews to the local media. The visit was organized with the help of Japan-Lithuania Friendship Association (JALFA).
