Sugihara Museum in Kaunas reopens fully renovated

A renovated Sugihara Memorial Museum in Kaunas reopened it's doors to the visitors on April 18th, 2008. With the help of the Japanese Government's Grant (Grant Assistance Program for the Cultural Grassroots Projects) the Museum became of the most modern museums in Lithuania.   The visitors of the museum can get acquainted with the life and work of the heroic Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara in Lithuania, watch the cinema chronicle of Kaunas during the years of 1939-1940. Part of audio-visual exposition presents the stories of the Jewish people, their life in Lithuania, their way to the saved future and the first steps in the emigration - Japan, USA, New Zealand, other far away countries.   The exposition was also updated with the copies of the important documents kindly submitted by the Diplomatic Record Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.  Every year more than 7000 Japanese tourists visit Sugihara Memorial Museum in Lithuania.
