Successful Participation of Lithuanian Schoolchildren in the World Children's Picture Contest

On 26 March in Tokyo there was held the award ceremony of the 19th annual World Children's Picture Contest. There were received entries for this contest from about 26 000 children from 71 nations, including 102 Lithuanian schoolchildren. The jury awarded Lithuanian drawings with 3 bronze medals, 1 memorable mention and 2 memorial prizes for International year of cooperatives. Totally 321 pictures were selected for prizes after passing through 2 stages of judging.During the ceremony Japanese winners were awarded, and representatives of embassies of foreign countries accepted letters of thanks for the cooperation.World Children's Picture Contest is held in Japan annually since 1993 and is organized by IE-NO-Hikari Association, in hopes that it will encourage friendship among children all over the world and help to cultivate humanity. Exhibition of winners’ drawings is exposed in various places in Japan, as well a catalog of them is released. In terms of the number of participating countries this was the largest contest to be held in Japan.Organizers are inviting to participate also in the 20th annual World Children's Picture Contest. Its themes – “Agriculture”, “Farming Area”, “Nature”, “Environment”, “Local People” or “Family”. Application period: 1 June – 1 October, 2012.
