Sh. Komaru appointed Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture

On March 20 Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis visited Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. During the visit, Ambassador attended of the ceremony of appointing Shigehiro Komaru the rank of Honorary Consul General of Lithuania. The event was attended by representatives of local government, business, and the leadership of Hiroshima University. Shigehiro Komaru is the first honorary consul of Lithuania in Japan to be given the title of Honorary Consul General.

The Ambassador also visited the Holocaust Education Center in Fukuyama, which has a separate exposition about Chiune Sugihara's activities in Lithuania. Prospects for the development of existing relations with the Lithuanian Vilnius Gaon Jewish Museum were discussed with the management of the institution.
