Seminar at the Japanese Diet “Gender Equality and the Young Generation”
On March 31, Ambassador G. Varvuolis took part in the Seminar at the Japanese Diet “Gender Equality and the Young Generation”. In his intervention Ambassador presented Lithuania's achievements in gender equality, especially the changed situation in the field of political mandate after the last parliamentary election. He highlighted the work of European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) in its potential in sharing good practices with Japan, which could be particularly useful in the field of digitization (#WomenGoTech and other mentoring programs).
The Seminar was organized by the EU Delegation in Japan and supported by JOICFP (Japanese Organization for International Cooperation in Family Planning) and the youth group “#男女共同参画ってなんですか – ‘#What does Gender Equality mean to you?’ and attended by a number of ambassadors and Diet members, as well as representatives of the youth, with additional online participation by young Japanese people and civil society.
