RCL AND JSPS AGREED ON A SCHEME TO ENCOURAGE JOINT SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS BETWEEN LITHUANIAN AND JAPAN SCIENTISTS
Research Council of Lithuania (RCL) and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) are planning to launch calls for proposals for scientific projects, in order facilitate connections and mobility of scientists of both countries. The collaboration scheme has been agreed upon in a meeting between RCL and JSPS executives, which took place in Japan last week.
In the meeting it was agreed that the projects will be funded by the Open Partnership Joint Projects/Seminars scheme, which will be open to proposals from all branches of science. JSPS puts forth such Calls for proposals annually, while RCL plans to announce the first Call in the last quarter of 2014.
Life sciences are currently being intensively developed in Japan, so it is expected, that the most attention will be paid to this area.
As collaboration takes root, a trans-institutional agreement is foreseen in the future, potentially enabling full joint science projects.
