Political consultations between Lithuania and Japan took place in Tokyo
On December 2, 2019, political consultations between Lithuania and Japan took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. They comprised discussions on bilateral relations, regional issues and plans for joint activities in 2020 commemorating on the 80th “visas for life” issued by Chiune Sugihara in Kaunas
Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Japan have been held since 2001. At this year's meeting in Tokyo, the Lithuanian delegation was led by Diana Mickevičienė, Director of the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Oceania Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Kunihiko Kawazu, Deputy Director General of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Also, the Lithuanian delegation participated in a round table discussion "Security Challenges in Europe and Asia: Lithuania and Japan", organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Tokyo in cooperation with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo and took part in the opening of the Lithuanian Visa Center in Tokyo.
