New Year - Time to Remember the Old One
On January 23, in Tokyo Japan-Lithuania Friendship Association organized a New Year meeting, where it also invited employees of the Lithuanian Embassy in Japan. There were the main achievements of the previous year reviewed, among which a special attention was given to “The Baltic week”, which marked the twentieth anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Baltic countries and Japan. On this occasion, the association members, former Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania Masaki Orito and former Chargé d'Affaires of Japan to Lithuania Kaneyasu Eizo, shared their memories and experiences of their work in Lithuania during the first years after the restoration of the country’s independence, as well as their thoughts about “The Baltic Way” and the documentary film "The Singing Revolution."
The participants of the evening were also introduced to the recently issued in Japan collection of the Čiurlionis piano notes – “Piano Score. Čiurlionis: Piano Works (URTEXT)”, which is the first foreign edition containing original music lyrics of the composer. Lithuanian Embassy in Tokyo and Japan-Lithuania Friendship Association were among the supporters of this publication.
