Mayor of Hiratsuka K. Ochiai received Lithuanian State decoration
On September 15, Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis bestowed upon Mayor of Hiratsuka Katsuhiro Ochiai the Lithuanian State decoration – the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit for Lithuania. Mayor K. Ochiai was awarded for the active promotion and development of bilateral cooperation between Japan and Lithuania in the field of culture, sports and youth exchange. Support of Hiratsuka – the host town of the Lithuanian Olympic and Paralympic team, provided to Lithuanian athletes was indispensable in preparation for Tokyo 2020 Games.
On the same day, the Ambassador presented letters of appreciation to citizens of Hiratsuka –volunteers who were assisting in organizing pre-Olympic training camps for Lithuanian athletes in Japan.
Presentation of two books took place in Hiratsuka as well – a book in Japanese on Lithuanian cuisine by Rasa Varvuolienė and Daiva Maekawa and a book for children "Small poems for the little ones" by M. Marcinkevičius translated into Japanese by translator Aya Kimura.
