Lithuanian Sea Port Introduces a Significant Reduction of Dues
Klaipeda port, one of the 30 largest ports in Europe, rapidly adjusts to market changes by introducing the changes to regulations on application of seaport dues.
The aim is to ensure a steady growth of cargo and passenger flows, attract shipping lines and increase the number of ship calls to the port, guarantee safety and the efficiency of the port operations, strengthen the port competitiveness, and improve relationship with loyal customers.
The changes were approved by the Government of Lithuania and are in force since March 2010, thus providing the more favourable conditions for cruise, ro-ro, ro-pax liner and ro-ro, container tramp vessels calling the port of Klaipeda.
Changes brought in by the new regulations:
• dues for tramp container, ro-ro and ro-pax ships reduced approximately up to 40 %
• dues for ro-ro liner ships calling port 2 times per week reduced by 50 %
• 50% tonnage due discount for ro-ro, ro-pax ferries, which do not load or unload 75 cargo units, introduced
• 20% discount for cruise ships, calling the port second time per year, introduced
• 50% discount for cruise ships, starting from 4 call per year, introduced
