Lithuanian industrial and scientific achievements presented at Kobe international industrial fair

On September 7-8th, Lithuanian Embassy for the first time participated in Kobe International Industrial Fair with Lithuanian national booth, where life sciences, photonics, information & communication technologies, engineering, and other Lithuanian economic sectors were presented.

Lithuanian booth visitors were very keen to know more not only about general Lithuanian economic situation and recent achievements in already-mentioned sectors but also about tourism possibilities in Lithuania. Special attention was given to highlight the work of legendary Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, whose dedication to humanitarian causes while posted in Kaunas in 1939-1940 saved the lives of approx. 6000 Jews. Sugihara memorial route is an inseparable part of itineraries of almost all Japanese tourists in Lithuania.

On September 7th, Japanese and international visitors of Kobe Fair‘s special international zone had an opportunity to hear presentation „Innovative Lithuania – Potential Partner for Life Sciences, Photonics, and ICT“. Among other topics, the presentation covered dynamic Lithuanian-Japanese relations in trade, scientific and R&D fields. Future plans to intensify bilateral cooperation in oncology, rare and undiagnosed diseases, and e-medicine were also discussed.

In 2016, Kobe International Industrial Fair welcomed around 30.000 visitors, 481 companies and organizations. This year organizers expect around 35.000 visitors and more than 600 companies and organizations.
