Lithuania – Japan Cooperation in Afghanistan Presented at Hitotsubashi University

Under the invitation by Satoshi Watanabe, Dean of the School of International and Public Policy of the Hitotsubashi University, Minister Counsellor Birute Abraitiene spoke about Lithuania’s participation in the European security policy and its participation in the reconstruction of Afghanistan together with Japan. The master program special course on regional policy is dedicated to the European security policy.

Hitotsubashi University students were eager to acquire deeper knowledge on the European policy towards crisis management in the troubled regions of the world. Lithuania’s experience in cooperation with Japan in Afghanistan was the main topic which attracted a considerable interest from the students.

Hitotsubashi University is a national university in Tokyo based in Kunitachi City. It is the only university in Japan to specialize exclusively in the humanities and social sciences. Hitotsubashi University's Law School ranked as No. 1 in the passing rate of Japanese Bar examination in 2006 and 2008. Hitotsubashi University has strong relationship with the universities overseas. There are about 590 international students and 450 researchers from abroad under academic exchange agreements with 83 universities and research institutions.
