International Conference "Fall of the Berlin Wall: From Budapest to Vilnius"

On the 5th and 6th of June, 2008, an International Conference, named "Fall of the Berlin Wall: From Budapest to Vilnius", will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The Conference is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Lithuanian Independence Movement Sàjûdis, the Popular Fronts of Estonia and Latvia, and the 40th anniversary of the Prague Spring.
The participants of this conference are outstanding people who were involved in the historical events under consideration, parliament members, and historians, political scientists, as well as journalists specialising in Central and Eastern Europe.
The aims of the Conference are to make a historic review of the 1944 –1991 events in Central and Eastern Europe and the global response; also to show the reasons why the soviet oppression crumbled in 1988 - 1991 and the Berlin Wall fell and note the impact on Europeÿs further development.
