In Tokyo, Lithuanian Chief National Security Adviser to the President discussed strengthening security and defence cooperation with Japan
On November 27-28, during his visit to Tokyo, Kęstutis Budrys, Chief National Security Adviser to the President of the Republic of Lithuania, had a courtesy call with Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, consultations with Takeo Akiba, Japan’s National Security Advisor, and met with Vice-Foreign Minister Masataka Okano.
Discussions focused on Russia’s escalating aggression in Ukraine and the security situation in Europe and the Indo-Pacific region, underscoring the indivisibility of security in these regions.
With his Japanese partners, Kęstutis Budrys discussed further opportunities for Lithuania and Japan, as strategic partners, to strengthen bilateral cooperation in security and defence, including military collaboration and cyber security, the ongoing support for Ukraine.
The dialogue also covered Lithuania’s plans to enhance its military presence in the Indo-Pacific.
