Fusion of Painting and Music: Performance by M. Matsui and Ž. Ovsiukaitė

On July 23 at 14:00 (Japanese time) an online streaming event on the occasion of Lithuania's participation in Tokyo Olympic Games will take place. It is organized by the Embassy of Lithuania in Japan in cooperation with Kanda Myoujin Shrine and EDOCCO Cultural Complex. The cultural event comprises simultaneous painting by a famous Japanese painter Morio Matsui and classical music played by an outstanding Lithuanian violinist Žydrė Ovsiukaitė. Preceded by welcoming addresses and introduction of artists, the art performance itself starts around 14:40.

Morio Matsui was born in Toyohashi. He has studied at Musashino College of Fine Art in Tokyo, and later – at Académie Julian and École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Outstanding achievements in art of M. Matsui are widely recognized. He was made Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and was awarded France's Legion of Honour medal by the Government of France. M. Matsui resides in Japan and in France. He is Goodwill Ambassador of Toyohashi – city that is host town of Lithuanian Paralympic team in Tokyo 2020.

Žydrė Ovsiukaitė is a professional Lithuanian musician presently residing in Kanazawa. She has graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with Master’s diploma in Performing Arts. She is the winner of numerous international musical competitions and was member and concertmaster of St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra in Lithuania. Since 2016, she is a guest player in Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.
