Embassy Participated in the Annual EU Delegation Project „EU Comes to your School“
On 14-15 May diplomats from the EU Delegation in Tokyo and from the Embassies of the EU countries in Japan visited around 100 high schools in different parts of Japan and gave lectures on the EU and their respective countries to around 44,000 schoolchildren. It was the 6th visit since 2007 under 'The EU comes to Your School' event, a unique project aiming to encourage interest of a younger Japanese generation in the EU.
Lithuanian Embassy has been participating in this project since its first time. This year the Embassy was represented by Asta Slavinskaitė, its second secretary, which visited Takasaki and Takasaki Higashi high schools in Gunma Prefecture. There Lithuanian diplomat has presented the EU, its symbols, history, institutions, the role in the world and relations with Japan. It was also the first time for many of 800 schoolchildren and their teachers, who attended lectures, to hear about Lithuania and Lithuanians.
