Charge d‘Affaires of the Embassy Had a Flood Fighting Drill Expierence
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan with supporting partner Japan Water Forum organized an annual event, Flood Fighting Drill Tour 2012 in Kurihashi District, Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
The drill is designed to provide an opportunity for the representatives of Diplomatic missions in Japan to learn about the traditional Japanese flood fighting methods, which have been transmitted at the community level. There was possibility for diplomats to learn from the historical knowledge and experience to tackle issues such as floods, to observe rescue and aid activities, equipment used on the spot and to join rescue activities.
Charge d‘Affaires A. A. Dambrauskas participated in the drill and had a short meeting with the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan Mr. Takeshi Maeda. Minister showed an interest in natural disasters occurring in Lithuania and their consequence. A. A. Dambrauskas informed about storms, downpour and ice-pack in the rivers and floods in spring which might happen in Lithuania.
