Building new bridges between the Lithuanian and Japanese defence industries

The Embassy of Lithuania in Japan was proud to organize a highly successful Japanese Defence Business Mission to Lithuania on the 27-28th of July 2026, led by Japan’s Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA).

The delegation brought together representatives of leading Japanese defence and technology companies, including “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries”, “Mitsubishi Electric”, “Kawasaki Heavy Industries”, NEC, “Toshiba”, “Toray Industries” and “Nippo Industry”.

During two intensive days in Vilnius, the participants had the opportunity to:

▪️ Meet a broad range of Lithuanian active in defence and dual-use sectors during a dedicated business matchmaking event;
▪️ Visit Lithuanian manufacturing facilities and see their technologies and production capabilities first-hand;
▪️ Exchange views with the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Economy and Innovation;
▪️ Discuss investment, innovation and market-entry opportunities with Invest Lithuania and Innovation Agency Lithuania.

The discussions also covered opportunities for joint R&D, investment, secure supply chains and long-term industrial cooperation. Lithuania is ready to serve not only as a trusted partner for Japanese companies, but also as a platform for their development and expansion in the European market.

Most importantly, many new contacts were established and direct interactions between Lithuanian and Japanese businesses have already begun. We sincerely hope that this mission will mark the beginning of active cooperation and concrete joint projects.

“The visit clearly demonstrated Lithuania’s strong capabilities in some of the most relevant areas of modern defence – from battle-tested drone technologies and mission systems to advanced electronics and optoelectronics, specialized software solutions and resilient manufacturing. I am also grateful to the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania for hosting the opening event and helping us launch this important mission in such a welcoming atmosphere.

Thank you to all the institutions, companies and colleagues who contributed to making this mission a success!” – said Dr. Aurelijus Zykas, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Japan.

Save the date: 29 June 2027

Lithuania’s largest defence-industry event “Baltic Miltech Summit” will bring together companies, institutions and experts from across the country’s defence ecosystem. It will be an excellent opportunity to meet the people developing Lithuania’s next generation of defence technologies.
