Bilateral agreement on closer cooperation in the field of defense

On October 19, in Tokyo, Lithuanian Deputy Minister of National Defense Greta Monika Tučkutė met with Japanese Deputy Minister of National Defense Kiyoshi Serizawa and signed a bilateral agreement on closer cooperation in the field of defense.

Lithuania and Japan agreed to regularly consult, exchange experience and knowledge in cyber security, fight against hybrid threats and other areas of defense cooperation. Support for Ukraine was among the most important topics of the talks held in Tokyo. The vice-minister presented the coalition of Ukrainian deminers organized by Lithuania.

During her visit to Tokyo, Deputy Minister G. M. Tučkutė also discussed the strengthening of defense cooperation between Lithuania and Japan with Deputy Foreign Minister Masataka Okano, Deputy National Security Adviser Keiichi Ichikawa, and the leadership of the Japanese Defense Acquisition Agency and the National Cyber Security Center.
