At the Embassy Was Honored a Friend of Lithuania
On 9 April at the Embassy a badge of honour "Carry Light within Your and Believe" of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania was presented to Mr. Shuji Kogi, Secretary General of the EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee for the significant contribution to the strengthening of cultural dialog between Lithuania and Japan. Ambassador Egidijus Meilūnas, who presented an award, stressed that cultural cooperation is very import in the bilateral relations between Lithuanian and Japan, and that it brings two nations closer to each other. “Due to efforts of such people as Mr. Kogi we have “more Japan in Lithuania” and “more Lithuania in Japan” – said Ambassador. Sh. Kogi said that his activities were inspired by the Baltic Way in 1989, people's aspiration for freedom. Though there were many joint projects with Lithuania, the deepest impressions are left from 2009 when Vilnius was a European Capital of Culture. "Despite the deep economic crisis, Lithuanians continued to be dedicated to cultural activities, believing that it can enhance the spirit of people" - said Sh. Kogi.
