ASEF Board of Governors Meeting to be held in Vilnius on May 12-13

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania will host the 26th Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Board of Governors Meeting. For the first time in the Baltic States, the meeting will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania on May 12-13.

The Board of Governors (BOG) is responsible for reviewing ASEF's strategies and policies to ensure its alignment with ASEM priorities. It is also responsible for the finance and management, as well as for the approval of ASEF's projects.

Within the BOG, members of the Finance & Audit Committee (FAC) and the Executive Committee (ExCo) will also meet in Vilnius on May 10 and May 11, respectively.

ASEF promotes greater mutual understanding between Asia and Europe through intellectual, cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Through ASEF, civil society concerns are included as a vital component of deliberations of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). ASEF was established in February 1997 by the participating governments of ASEM and has since implemented over 500 projects, engaging over 15,000 direct participants as well as reaching out to a much wider audience in Asia and Europe.
