Ambassador G. Varvuolis participated in Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Board of Governors’ meeting

On 10-11 June Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis participated in in Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Board of Governors’ online meeting. The Board of Governors listened to activity and financial reports of the Foundation, reviewed project proposals for 2021 in the fields of culture, education, sustainable development, governance and media. A special attention was paid to the digitization of communications, efficient use of online platforms and social networks, and transfer of some activities to the virtual space. The need to develop relevant competencies of the organization was emphasized during the meeting. Board members also discussed the impact of the pandemic on the organization’s ongoing projects and their funding. In his intervention, Ambassador G.Varvuolis called for maintaining such key ASEF programs as ASEF Culture 360 and especially Mobility First, which is currently suspended, but the resumption of international mobility should continue to provide an opportunity for European and Asian artists and cultural professionals to get to better know each other. The meeting approved recommendations for future activities of ASEF.
