Ambassador G. Varvuolis attended the Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Nagasaki Atomic Bombing and met with Kyushu business representatives

On August 5-9, ambassador G. Varvuolis attended the 75th Nagasaki Peace Ceremony and held meetings with Kyushu business representatives.

On behalf of Lithuanian authorities, ambassador laid flowers at the nuclear bombing memorial in commemoration of victims.

During the ceremony, special attention was given to Nagasaki Peace Declaration, which was red by the Mayor of Nagasaki and the message of peace by Pope Francis, who held a holy mass in the city last year on the first stop of his visit to Japan.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, other officials, representatives of UN, ambassadors of foreign countries, atomic bombing survivors, bereaved families and citizens of Nagasaki.

During his visit in Kyushu ambassador also held bilateral meetings and assessed prospects of cooperation with the chairman of Nagasaki Chamber of Commerce Kazuo Takushima and business executives of Fukuoka and Nagasaki prefectures.
