Ambassador G. Varvuolis attended official celebration at the Imperial Palace of Japan

On January 1, 2019, Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis took part in a traditional ceremony at the Imperial Palace of Japan, where Emperor Akihito was receiving New Year’s greetings from the heads of diplomatic missions. Emperor Akihito abdicates on April 30, 2019, and on May 1st Crown Prince Naruhito becomes Emperor.

Ambassador G. Varvuolis also participated on December 23, 2018, at the celebration of Emperor Akihito's 85th birthday. Emperor Akihito said he hopes everyone has a bright upcoming year in his final birthday address from the throne. The celebration was attended by Empress Michiko, Crown Prince Naruhito, Crown Princess Masako and other members of the imperial family.
