Ambassador A. Zykas' interview with the Japanese news portal "Great Sankei News"
July 11 Aurelijus Zykas, Ambassador of the Lithuanian Embassy in Japan, gave an interview to the Japanese news portal "Great Sankei News" about the war in Ukraine and personal memories from Soviet-occupied Lithuania.
During the interview, the ambassador said that it was difficult to imagine that "the day when Russia invades Ukraine will become a reality", however, now that one of the world's major powers no longer follows the international order, anything can happen, so the ambassador pointed out that he was worried abut the lack of awareness of the magnitude of this crisis in the Japanese society. The ambassador notes that Japan is currently threatened by three countries: Russia, China and North Korea. The ambassador believes that Japan should feel more responsible and involved in resolving the current situation.
At the end of the interview, Ambassador A. Zykas reminded that on the day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian flag was raised outside the Embassy. Support for Ukraine is unwavering until the victory. "I wish Ukraine glory," said the ambassador.
