ACHIEVEMENTS OF LITHUANIAN SCIENCE WERE PRESENTED IN JAPAN

On 10-13 June the Lithuanian Embassy in Japan, together with the Research Council of Lithuania and the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, organized the presentations of Lithuanian scientific achievements and a few meetings for researchers from both countries at the most important research centers in Japan and at the Lithuanian Embassy in Tokyo.

Lithuanian scientific delegation was composed of twelve members of the Research Council of Lithuania, the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Vilnius University and Kaunas University of Technology.
 
A special seminar was held at the Lithuanian Embassy in Tokyo on 11 June, where Lithuanian scientific achievements were presented for the representatives of Japanese universities, public institutions and business corporations. During the event, the parties discussed the possibility of closer cooperation in the area of science and technology.
 
On 12-13 June Lithuania - Japan bilateral symposium on science and technology was held in Tsukuba, known as “science city”, which is the home of more than 40 national research institutes.
 
Opening the symposium, Mr. Egidijus Meilūnas, Lithuanian Ambassador to Japan, emphasised that the cooperation in the field of science has opened a new page in relations of Japan and Lithuania.
 
During the symposium, the researchers from Lithuania and Japan gave a presentation on the progress in the field of science and technology and presented the applications of significant scientific achievements in industry.
 
This event was the result of the combined effort of the Lithuanian Embassy in Tokyo, the Research Council of Lithuania, University of Tsukuba and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
 
After visiting the Tokyo Institute of Technology, University of Tsukuba, the National Institute for Materials Science, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Lithuanian scientists and diplomats also discussed potential partnership opportunities.
