Commemoration of the 105th anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic of Lithuania and the 33rd anniversary of the Restoration of Independence

On March 2, a reception was held in Tokyo to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic of Lithuania and the 33rd anniversary of the Restoration of Independence.

The guests gathered during the event were greeted by Vytautas Mitalas, Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, who arrived to Japan together with members of the Lithuanian-Japanese parliamentary group.

The Ambassador of Lithuania to Japan, Aurelijs Zykas, presented letters of thanks for the long-term fostering of cultural and artistic ties between Lithuania and Japan, the promotion of Lithuania's name in Japan, to Yuko Yamasaki, dr. Aya Kimura and dr. Yumiko Nunokawa. The ambassador also presented the the original of the Life Visa issued by Japanese Vice Consul Chiune Sugihara and Dutch Consul Jan Zwartendijk in 1940 to the Honorary Consul General of Lithuania Mr. Shigehiro Komaru for his exceptional contribution to the promotion of bilateral relations between Lithuania and Japan.
