Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis: “We see the threat posed by China and the importance of cooperation with the Indo-Pacific in the same way as the U.S. does”

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania  Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the U.S. President’s National Security Council Coordinator Kurt Campbell.

“The Lithuanian-U.S. Strategic Dialogue on the Indo-Pacific is an important diplomatic tool. It helps coordinate actions in response to China’s global stance, signals about China’s increasing support to Russia in the war against Ukraine, and economic and political pressure on Lithuania, other countries in Europe and other continents. We see the threat posed by China in the same way as the United States does,” the Lithuanian diplomat said after the important meeting in the White House.

“We also similarly assess the importance of cooperation with the Indo-Pacific. Therefore, I highly appreciate the resolve of the U.S. partners to strengthen this dialogue further and turn this effective U.S.-Lithuanian bilateral cooperation instrument into a long-term process,” Landsbergis said.

In 2022, exports of goods of Lithuanian origin to 10 countries in the Indo-Pacific increased steadily compared to 2021.

During 2022, goods of Lithuanian origin were actively imported into Australia (EUR 146.5 million, + 44 %), South Korea (EUR 92.6 million, + 23 %), Japan (88.4 million, + 25 %), Taiwan (EUR 21.74 million, + 31 %; 78 % of all exports to Taiwan are of Lithuanian origin) and other countries in the region.
