Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis receives the U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania Kara C. McDonald
On 30 January, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with the new Ambassador of the United States of America to Lithuania, Kara C. McDonald.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her new duties in Lithuania, welcomed economic ties,
discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States, the importance of transatlantic cooperation and regional security threats, including the need to continue and beef up support for Ukraine and Belarusian civil society.
“The U.S. leadership is critical to the world and Lithuania. After the end of the Cold War, the country has contributed to Lithuania’s successful efforts to restore its independence,” Landsbergis noted.
Ambassador Kara C. McDonald is the 16th U.S. Ambassador who resides in Lithuania. Lithuania and the United States established their diplomatic relations in 1922.
